Vintage Cut Glass Bud Vase with Gilt Brass Rim

Cut crystal bud vase with a fitted gilt brass rim, footed and cut in alternating bands of diamond hobnail and long vertical flutes. The brass collar is a nice touch that lifts it above ordinary pressed glass, giving the mouth a clean gold line that catches the light. It holds a single stem or a few short flowers, and works just as well empty as a small bright object on a shelf or vanity. The cutting is crisp and the glass has real weight in the hand.

The vase is in good decorative condition with two issues to note plainly. First, the gilt brass rim at the mouth has been detached and glued back on; the repair is holding and the rim sits level, but it is a repair and not original attachment. Second, the foot shows damage: there is a crack visible across the underside of the base and a small chip or flake at the foot edge. Read the photos of the base closely before purchase. The glass body itself is clean and bright with crisp cutting and no cloudiness. The gilt on the brass rim is even with light wear. This is sold as a decorative piece; the foot condition should be considered if you intend to fill it with water and flowers regularly.
