Mid-Century Noritake ‘Joanne’ Bone China Side Plates (Set of 5)

Noritake made the Joanne pattern in Japan through the 1950s and 1960s, and it reads exactly like the moment it came from: pink and yellow florals around the rim, blue scrollwork threading between them, a gold band closing the edge. At 8.25 inches these sit in the useful range for tea, dessert, a salad course, or as a layer inside a fuller setting.

The pattern is discontinued. Sets like this tend to move toward people filling gaps in china they already have, which is its own kind of afterlife for a plate.

There are five here rather than six or eight, so this is a partial service. Worth saying plainly rather than burying.

Good vintage condition overall. Four of the five plates are free from chips and cracks, with clean floral transfers and gentle wear to the gold trim.

One plate has a small chip on the reverse near the rim. It does not show from the front when the plate is displayed or in use, but it is there and it is in the photographs.

There is minor, age-consistent wear to the gold detailing on several plates, which is normal for gilt trim of this period.
