Korean Brass Hotpot Steamer | Brass Vase

Korean brass chimney hot pot, mid-20th century, of the type known as sinseollo, made for charcoal-heated communal dining. The raised central chimney held hot coals to keep broth simmering at the table while the moat around it held the food. Solid brass with riveted loop handles and a pierced, engraved lid. The exterior carries a warm golden patina and the interior shows the darkening of genuine use. A sculptural piece for a centerpiece or shelf.
