[condition] The original cloth binding is firm and intact. Light rubbing and mild edge wear are present throughout, with gentle fading to the spine, all consistent with a book of this age and well within what one expects from a working copy more than a century old. The gilt lettering on the spine and front board remains clear and attractive. Internally, the pages are clean overall. Moderate foxing and age toning are present, most noticeable on the endpapers and a few of the preliminary leaves, and lighter through the body of the text. The text block is solid with no loose or missing pages, and all plates are present and accounted for. The tissue-guarded frontispiece is intact.
