[condition] The red morocco binding is in very good antique condition with light rubbing at the spine ends and corners consistent with age and handling. The gilt decoration on both the spine and covers remains clear and attractive throughout. The binding is firm and the joints are secure with no looseness detected. All edges gilt are bright and clean. The engraved Lake District plates and their tissue guards are all present and intact, with light age toning and occasional mild foxing but no significant staining, tears, or repairs. The front endpaper carries a period presentation inscription dated 14 September 1871 in good legible ink. A well-preserved and highly decorative copy overall.
